Chester A. La Velle, long-time resident of Pioneer, celebrated his 100th birthday on August 4 with family and friends.
A jack of all trades, he taught at Chabot College in Hayward, piloted and owned a Bonanza airplane, built three of his own houses and took his family and grandkids camping every summer. He and his wife, Lois, loved riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle on adventures all over the foothills. Still living independently in his home, he was wished a happy birthday by all.
