100th

After the program on bulb planting on October 22, the Sierra Madre Garden Club surprised Thelma Clancy with an expanded birthday celebration, first of many to be sure. (She wanted to bring a cake to celebrate her and all members birthdays.) She was asked to come to the front of the room where she shared her delight in being a member of the club for almost two decades. Then Jan Clute, the club’s historian, presented her with a beautiful poster of her past five years club activities as that is all that would fit on the poster. “Happy 100 Years Birthday” cards were signed, three balloons with 1-0-0 on them floated above the feast of Thelma’s cake with ice cream, sparking cider, and other goodies. The poster, other gifts and cards to honor Thelma accompanied her as she left with a huge smile on her face and her repeated thank you for making her feel so special.
