Seuss

Lee and Joan Alderin Suess of Jackson celebrated 60 years of marriage October 23rd at Niagara Falls.

The couple married in Stanton, ND in 1959 and have resided in Amador County since 1998 after being drawn to the people, open space and ski slopes, but have owned property in the county since 1979.  

 The couple first met in high school and had their first date on New Years Eve in 1955.  Joan graduated from business college in Minneapolis and Lee served in the U.S. Marine Corps before the two were wed in 1959.

Joan was employed at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and Lee spent 32 years with the San Jose Fire Department.

The couple has three sons - James Suess of Grass Valley, Daniel of Santa Cruz and Robert of Mt. Rose, NV. They have three granddaughters and two great granddaughters.

The couple celebrated their anniversary with a tour of Michigan and ending it at 

Niagara Falls over their anniversary.
