Author, historian, and Sierra Madre Garden Club member Frank Tortorich will present his cut-up antics with fruits and vegetables when the club meets on February 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road in Jackson. Frank will demonstrate how simple produce can become clever centerpieces for table and decorations. Hear how a visit more than 20 years ago to Winterport Farm in Ione in search of the perfect pumpkin began a fascination with fruit carving. Members and visitors are invited to try their hand at fruit carving. To join the fun, simply bring a small paring knife, a small cutting board, a bunch of radishes, and an apple or two. Or, if that’s not your thing, feel free to bring your camera and just watch. The Sierra Madre Garden Club welcomes visitors and anyone interested in learning about gardening. Light refreshments are served. For more information, contact Ed Morin, Program Chair, at (209) 296-4502.
