The 2019 California District 15 Little League Tournament of Champions is in full swing after an exciting opening weekend.

Hosted by Calaveras National Little League, this year’s tournament features three divisions with Minors and Majors teams playing at Alex Quinones Community Park in San Andreas and Juniors teams playing at CB Hobbs Field in Mokelumne Hill.

In the Minors division, the Amador West River Cats had a strong opening weekend, beating the Foothills Lug Nuts 13-1 on Saturday and the Calaveras National Reds 18-15 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the double-elimination tournament. Amador West will take on the Linden Yankees at 5 p.m. Wednesday in San Andreas with the winner going to the finals and the losing team dropping into the elimination bracket.

In the Majors division, the Amador East Aces are one win away from the finals after two wins on opening weekend. The Aces defeated the Woods Creek Knuckleballers 8-5 on Saturday and beat the Foothills A’s 17-1 on Sunday. Amador East will take on the Linden Mets in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday in San Andreas.

In the Juniors division at Hobbs Field, the Amador West Phillies and Calaveras National Reds emerged from opening weekend as the lone undefeated teams left. Those two will face off in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday with the winner earning a spot in the finals. The Amador East Marauders played Linden in an elimination game on Monday and the Foothill Dodgers take on Woods Creek in an elimination game on Tuesday.

The finals for all divisions are scheduled for Saturday morning with a winner-take-all game on Sunday morning if necessary.

District 15 includes Amador County East (Jackson), Amador County West (Ione), Bret Harte (Angels Camp), Calaveras National (San Andreas), Foothills (Valley Springs), Linden, Westside (Tuolumne) and Woods Creek (Sonora).
