One local Little League team punched its ticket to the finals of the 2019 California District 15 Little League Tournament of Champions, while others are trying to get there the hard way.

On Wednesday evening in Mokelumne Hill, the Calaveras National Little League Reds defeated the Amador West Phillies 10-3 at Hobbs Field to stay unbeaten in the tournament and advance to the finals. Amador West dropped into the elimination bracket and will play either the Linden Lions or the Foothills Dodgers (those two teams played an elimination game on Thursday) at 5 p.m. Friday with the winner advancing to face the Cal National Reds in the finals on Saturday at 10 a.m. and again at 10 a.m. Sunday if necessary.

In the Majors division at Alex Quinones Community Park in San Andreas, the Amador East Aces were knocked into the elimination bracket with a 10-0 loss to the Linden Mets on Wednesday. The Aces await the winner of Thursday’s elimination game between the Bret Harte Braves and Woods Creek Knuckleballers for a showdown at 5 p.m. Friday to see which team will reach the finals at 12 p.m. Saturday (and Sunday if necessary) against the Mets.

In the Minors division, also at Alex Quinones Community Park in San Andreas, the Amador West River Cats lost 5-1 to the Linden Yankees in a matchup of the last two unbeaten teams in that division on Wednesday. Linden advanced to Saturday’s finals with the win, while the River Cats dropped into the elimination bracket and will face the winner of Thursday’s game between the Amador East Giants and Westside Braves at 5 p.m. Friday. The winner of Friday’s game will face the Linden Yankees in the finals at 9 a.m. Saturday and again at 9 a.m. Sunday if necessary.

California District 15 Little League includes Amador County East (Jackson), Amador County West (Ione), Bret Harte (Angels Camp), Calaveras National (San Andreas), Foothills (Valley Springs), Linden, Westside (Tuolumne) and Woods Creek (Sonora).

Following the TOCs, District 15 will host its annual all-star tournament starting on June 22 at Howard Park in Ione.
