Trout are the ticket right now. Lakes are planting tons of fish weekly. Some of the plants include fish greater than 10 pounds in size. Set your drags people! Speedy Shiners, jointed Rapala, garlic Power Eggs, 2.5- to 3-inch Power Grubs are where it is at.

Lake Amador reports the fishing is good. Large fish being pulled from the lake via boat and shore. Staff recommends if you are shore fishing, keep moving around until you find a pocket of fish. People catching fish seem to be catching multiple when they find a pocket full. Amador is planting approximately 500 to 600 pounds of fish a week. A huge 2.82-pound crappie and a huge 28-pound catfish were caught last week. Water temperatures are approximately 57 degrees and the lake is down only 26 feet. If you haven’t eaten breakfast at the lake, you must! The Café is open Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. each day. …

Lake Camanche is reporting lake temperatures to be at 52 to 54 degrees. Weekly plants of approximately 1,200 pounds. Shore fishing and trolling are hot. Trolling approximately 2-3 miles per hour in the top 20 feet of water. Bass are slow rolling; Dead stick; Senco 5 to 15 feet; Jigs 15 to 25 feet; Dropshot and Carolina Rigs 25 to 70 feet. Cast out, let it hit the bottom and wait. Maybe while you are waiting, take a bite of the amazing hamburger you picked up at the North Shore Café. They are a must. It is now 2020, so don’t forget to pick up a new fishing license. California has increased the annual license fee to $51.02 (yikes!). Licenses are good from January 1 through December 31. Get it early so you can get the most out of it. California has set aside July 4 and September 5 for this year’s free fishing days.
