Eleven-year-old Kai Sorensen of Sutter Creek will be racing against some of the top kart racers from around the world at the ROK Cup Superfinal 2019 next week in Lonato, Italy.

Sorensen earned the opportunity to compete at this prestigious international event with a strong showing this past season on the national circuit, which included a first-place finish on the 2019 Florida Winter Tour. Also this past year, Sorensen won the SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) national championships in the Mini Swift class for ages 9 to 13 years old.

“Not too bad for a kid from Amador County,” said Kai’s father, Richard Sorensen.

The ROK Cup Superfinal 2019 in Lonato, Italy will take place from October 8 to October 12. Sorensen, who races for Supertune USA out of Indianapolis, Indiana, also competed in Italy last year and is looking to improve on his 12th-place finish.
