Gold Country Vintage Base Ball’s 2020 season resumed on Sunday, August 30 after a week off due to smoky skies with a pair of games highlighted by a showdown between unbeaten teams.
In the first game of the day at Pioneer Park in Somerset, the Miners/Bandits combined team, a.k.a. the Revolvers, took on the Preston Nine with both teams coming in with 1-0 records. The Nine jumped out to a 4-3 lead through two innings, but the Revolvers scored four runs in the top of the third inning and three more in the fourth to take control of the game and an eventual 15-7 win.
In the second game of the day, the Crushers cruised to a 20-10 victory over the Indians/Highlanders combined team.
Gold Country Vintage Base Ball action continues this Sunday with the Indians/Highlanders (0-2) taking on the Preston Nine (1-1) at 10 a.m., followed by the Revolvers (2-0) against the Crushers (1-1) at 12:30 p.m. Both games will be played at Pioneer Park in Somerset.
