Adult basketball league

The Amador Adult Basketball League is taking registration for its upcoming 5-on-5 spring league. The 10-week league will feature an A and B division with games on Sunday nights starting March 8. Amador Flyfishers meeting

The next meeting of the Amador Flyfishers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18 at 810 Court Street in Jackson. Speaker will be Clay Hash, a fly fishing guide out of Grass Valley. Gold Country Community Tennis

Gold Country Community Tennis will hold classes adults and youths on Saturdays, beginning February 15 and running through May 9 at the Argonaut High School tennis courts. The classes are open to all ages and anyone with a genuine interest in learning the sport. Attendees should come ready to learn, dressed appropriately with athletic shoes and with their own tennis racket. Costs for the spring training season range from $84 for 5-11 years old to $126 for middle school age and up. Sessions will be held every Saturday lasting an hour to an hour and a half depending on age group. The up-and-coming GCCT is owned and operated by coach Christian DuCray, a coach with an exceptional background and proven track record in the tennis world. DuCray is Professional Tennis Registry certified, as well as, certified to train all ages. Presently, he is the head coach for the Argonaut High School tennis team, Lead Director of Junior Team Tennis and grew up locally playing in Junior Team Tennis. Little League Umpire Clinic

Amador County Little League West and East will hold an umpire clinic for the 2020 season from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 16 at Howard Park in Ione. Anyone age 13 and up interested in being a Little League umpire is welcome to attend. Attendees will be taught rules and field mechanics. The Amador County Girls Softball Association is holding a softball clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, February 23 at St. Sava softball fields on Mission Boulevard in Jackson. CHS Track and Field Hall of Fame Dinner

The eighth annual Calaveras High School Track and Field Hall of Fame Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 29 at the San Andreas Town Hall. This year’s inductees are Hannah Hull (Class of 2015) and Cody Freeman (Class of 2011). Cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes a complete tri-tip dinner. 33rd annual Bunsen to Beaker 5K Walk/Race

Join in the fun and support local science programs on Saturday, March 14 for the 33rd annual Bunsen to Beaker 5K Walk/Race. All of the proceeds from the race will go towards the purchase of hands-on science materials at Jackson Elementary School and Jackson Junior High School. The event starts at 8 a.m. on Jackson Gate Road across from Detert Park and finishes in downtown Jackson. Online registration is available at bunsentobeaker.com. 14th annual 49er Bypass Run

The Amador County Recreation Agency presents the 14th annual 49er Bypass Run on Saturday, April 4 in Sutter Creek. There will be a 5K and 10K, both starting at 9 a.m. Check-in at 7 a.m. at the firehouse at 350 Hanford Street. Costs are $25 (youth) and $30 (adult) for the 5K, and $30 (youth) and $35 (adult) for the 10K. Party Pardee Bicycle Ride

Registration is now open for the Party Pardee Bicycle Ride at partypardee.com. This annual Sacramento Bike Hiker cycling event will be held on Saturday, April 4, at Howard Park in Ione. This 26- and 62-mile bike tour travels the gentle rolling hills of Amador and Calaveras counties. Rest stops will be stocked with a large variety of fruit, snacks and drinks. Friendly on-the-road support as always will be available and mechanical assistance at the rest stops. A hot meal and live music will be provided at the finish. This ride must be pre-registered only. No same-day registration. Registration cut off is when the 1,500 rider limit is reached. Fees are $55 for 26-mile and $65 for 62-mile. Starting times are from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Helmets required. Party Pardee assorted accessories may be pre-purchased when registering and limited quantities will be available day of event. Fly Fishing Intro Class

Amador Flyfishers (AFF) will present an introductory class about fly fishing on April 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road in Jackson. Course content includes: What fly fishing is all about; bugs, their life cycle and importance in fly fishing; overview of fly fishing equipment and how to use it; where to find fish and why they are there; where to go fly fishing and special regulations; casting techniques, demonstrations and practice; two outings the following weekend to practice what you learned; AFF membership for 2020; years of instructor experience to share. Class size is limited to 25 people. Must be 18 years or older; ages 12-17 may attend, but must be accompanied by an adult participant. Bring snacks, drinks and lunch.

The Amador County Running Club is open to runners of all ages and abilities. The club currently meets on Tuesday’s at 3:30 p.m. in Room 8 at Argonaut High School.
