True Sportsman Club hosts annual Turkey Shoot this Saturday

The True Sportsman Club annual Turkey Shoot will be held on Saturday, November 21, starting at 10 a.m. at the club (8250 True Sportsman Dr., Ione (off Hwy. 88)). All ages are welcome. Cost is $5 per flight. A flight will consist of five shooters (in one of the four following categories), five shots each, at clay targets. The categories will be as follows: 1. Any handgun (rimfire, centerfire, or muzzleloader) open sights; 2. Any handgun (rimfire, centerfire, or muzzleloader) scoped; 3. Any rifle (rimfire, centerfire, or muzzleloader) open sights; 4. Any rifle (rimfire, centerfire, or muzzleloader) scoped. This year all handguns shall remain cased (or bagged) and unloaded until the shooter reaches the firing line. All rifles will be kept in the vertical stands with actions open. We’ll keep our distance for virus protection. Lunch will be available for a donation. 8th annual Amador County Putting Championship

The Eighth annual Amador County Putting Championship was postponed for one week and rescheduled for 1 p.m. this Sunday, November 22 at Castle Oaks Golf Course. Prizes for top finishers, including name of champion listed on perpetual trophy. Adult and youth divisions. Cost to enter is $20 for adults and $10 for youth. Only a putter and a ball are necessary.

Turkey Trot cancelled

The annual Turkey Trot to benefit the Interfaith Food Bank has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19. Donations can still be made, but must be dropped off at the Food Bank on Airport Road in Jackson.

Jug and Rose goes virtual

The 47th annual Jug and Rose 7.7-mile run/walk will be held virtually this winter with athletes anywhere and everywhere participating on their own. All proceeds from the event benefit Amador High School Performing Arts. Enter by Thanksgiving (if you want a shirt; shirtless entries after that) and run by Christmas. For entry information, visit
