The 2020 Gold Country Vintage Base Ball championship will be on the line this Sunday in a winner-take-all showdown between the Crushers and the Revolvers. The Crushers will surely have their hands full in their quest for the coveted champion’s cup, taking on a Revolvers team that hasn’t lost a single game all season.
In the final game of the regular season this past Sunday, October 11, the Revolvers extended their streak of perfection with a 16-7 victory over a gritty Preston Nine squad, getting a complete game pitching performance from “Papa,” who earned his third win of the season.
The Nine finished the 2020 season in third place. In their season finale last Sunday, the Nine hung tough with the Revolvers early thanks in part to a highlight-worthy defensive play by “Silky,” who tracked down and caught a long smash to left-center field and then fired a throw to first base to complete a double play. As the game progressed, the Revolvers bats came alive to secure the win.
The time and location of this Sunday’s championship game was still to be determined as of press time Thursday morning.
