On Monday, March 29, 2021, at 3:03 p.m., Amador County Dispatch received a report of a physical altercation in the parking lot of Walmart. As ACSO Deputies were arriving on scene, a witness reported a male subject, identified as John Douglas McAllister of Jackson, was attempting to leave the scene in a grey colored Toyota Pickup. As McAllister attempted to leave, he struck Paul Jeremy Keever with his pickup truck as he fled. Keever rolled off of the hood of McAllister’s truck and was run over in the process. ACSO deputies were able to prevent McAllister from leaving the parking lot and detained him without incident.

Medical resources were summoned for both Keever and McAllister and both men were transported to the Sutter Amador Emergency Room for treatment.

McAllister was ultimately placed under arrest and booked into the Amador County Jail for violation of California Penal Code section 245(a)(1) Assault With A Deadly Weapon.
