On Monday, June 29, 2020, at 7:49 a.m., the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a payphone near the St. George Hotel in Volcano. The male caller stated multiple bombs were at the new courthouse, 500 Argonaut Lane in Jackson, and then abruptly disconnected the call.
Amador County Deputies working security at the courthouse were notified and upon checking the area they located two unusual items outside the courthouse in the landscaping. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit responded to examine the items and the California Highway Patrol brought an explosive detection dog to check the interior and perimeter of the courthouse. No explosives were located.
