UPDATE 2/18: In a felony arraignment hearing on Thursday, February 18 in Amador Superior Court, Campbell entered a not guilty plea. A pre-preliminary hearing was set for March 25.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Amador County Sheriff’s Office detectives received information of a possible missing female adult where foul play was suspected. Detectives also received conflicting information that the female may be in the state of Louisiana.

After conducting multiple interviews, the detectives developed additional information that Dante Michael Campbell of Ione was in a dating relationship with the missing female.

On Thursday, February 11, 2021, the detectives responded to a residence at 5564 Park Circle in the Oaks Mobile Home Park, Ione to meet with Campbell. Deputies who were conducting surveillance on the location spotted Campbell in an RV storage area across the street from the Mobile Home Park and alerted detectives who responded.

Detectives interviewed Campbell on scene and developed probable cause to obtain two search warrants. The search warrants were executed on an RV located at the storage facility and associated with Campbell and on his residence. Upon entry into the RV, detectives discovered the body of an unidentified female adult was located inside. Amador County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators responded and began processing the potential crime scene.

While deputies were executing the search warrant at the residence, they were approached by an individual who wanted to report a second missing adult female. The individual indicated this female may have last been seen with Campbell at around 2 a.m. that morning. Detectives immediately began developing leads which brought them to a different storage unit in Ione.

Detectives obtained a third search warrant for this storage unit which was executed late Thursday night. That search revealed another unidentified female adult’s body consistent with the manner in which the other victim was found.

Both victims were taken to Sacramento for a forensic autopsy examination and for identification. The next of kin have not been notified pending positive identification of the victims. The manner and cause of each death is pending the results of the forensic autopsies.

49 year old Dante Michael Campbell of Ione was arrested by Amador County Sheriff’s Detectives for two counts of 187(A) PC (Murder). Bail was set at a No Bail status which means Campbell will remain in custody on the murder charges.
