I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, a Happy Chanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, Yule, or whichever holiday you choose to celebrate. It’s a wonderful time of the year, and I wish everyone happiness. Did you know that National Sangria Day is today, December 20. (I really LOVE Sangria.) December 24 is National Egg Nog Day, and December 25 is National Pumpkin Pie Day. Oh, and some of my favorites… National Candy Cane Day is December 26, and National Fruitcake Day is December 27. Now, who doesn’t love a really good fruitcake?

There’s going to be a great New Year’s Eve party called Pardigras at the Gold Country Lanes located at 81 Ridge Road in Sutter Creek. Of course, the party is on Tuesday, December 31, and it begins at 8 p.m. There is going to be Big Easy style live music by Beau Rumpus. This party is for folks at least 21 or older (that’s us, folks!) and there’s no cover charge.  Please wear a costume, as it is Pardigras, which adds to the fun. Oh my, a real party on New Year’s Eve. Sounds great.

I have another great annual event this time, as well. The 3rd Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade at Lake Camanche North Shore will be held on Saturday, December 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lake. The spectator special event entry is only $5 after 3:00 p.m., so come on down a bit early and stake out your spot. Bring chairs, and of course, dress warm so you’ll be comfortable. If you want to register your boat to be in the parade, call (209) 763-5121 and they’ll have all the information you need.

That’s it for today. I will have many more interesting, inexpensive or free things for you to do in the future. I look forward to hearing from you if you know about something that you would like to share with fellow readers. My email address is: EmmaD@volcano.net
