Amador County Public Health

Amador County, CA – This evening, June 28, 2020, Amador County Public Health reported one additional case of COVID-19 in Amador County. The new case is an adult female in her 60s who is a resident of Pioneer and is not linked to any previous Amador case. The Health Department is still determining where this new case contracted COVID-19, but she did travel to areas with higher COVID-19 transmission rates within the last 2 weeks. This new case is currently isolated at home. 

Amador County Public Health staff is in the process of contacting persons who may have been in close personal contact with the positive individual. Total positive COVID-19 cases in Amador to date = 21. Total in isolation = 9. Total currently hospitalized = 1. Total recovered = 12. 

With Amador residents traveling to and from areas with more COVID-19 activity, it is important that the Amador community recognizes this increases the risk within our own county. 

• Limit the number of others you interact with outside your household. 

• Stay home if you are sick. 

• Regularly clean high-touch surfaces. 

• When you go out, practice social distancing, wear a face covering, and wash your hands as soon as possible afterward. 

• Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 should continue to stay home as much as possible.
