Today, June 24, 2020, Amador County Public Health reported three additional cases of COVID-19 in Amador County. The 3 cases are residents of Ione in their 20s and 30s and are all linked to previous cases, reported earlier this week. All 3 individuals were identified by Public Health staff as close contacts to previous cases, were quarantined pending testing results and now are currently isolated and recovering at home.
Public Health staff have determined these new cases meet the threshold of a workplace outbreak. The employer has readily participated in the contact tracing and is fully cooperative. All persons considered close personal contacts have been instructed to quarantine at home. Public Health continues to monitor all close contacts associated with this new case cluster. Total positive COVID-19 cases in Amador to date = 19. Total in isolation = 9. Total recovered = 10. Total currently hospitalized = 0.
With businesses in the county opening and additional travel to and from areas with more COVID-19 activity, this new cluster of cases highlights the importance of Amador community members and workers continuing to take simple steps to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses including COVID-19:
Stay home when sick, even with mild symptoms.
Maintain a distance of 6 feet from people outside of your household.
Regularly wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Clean high-touch surfaces.
When you go out, wear a face covering over your nose and mouth to protect others.
• Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 should continue to stay home as much as possible.
