On Monday, December 2, 2019, at approximately 7:10 a.m., the Jackson Police Department was dispatched to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the area of Highway 49 and Hoffman Street in Jackson (CA).
Upon arrival, California Highway Patrol officers were on scene performing CPR on the 53 year-old male pedestrian (name being withheld pending notification). The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Paul Allison, stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Initial investigation shows the male pedestrian was walking eastbound on Highway 49, in the crosswalk of Hoffman Street when he was struck in the second northbound lane by a 2015 Chevrolet driven by Allison.
Life saving measures were performed on the pedestrian, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. No drugs or alcohol use are suspected to be a factor for the driver and a toxicology screen is pending on the pedestrian.
