A 60-year-old Menlo Park man suffered fatal injuries in a vehicle crash on Highway 4 on Sunday, September 29 in Angels Camp.
Dan Tzur was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang, southbound within a private driveway, north of SR-4, and preparing to enter eastbound SR-4. Matthew Steele of Hayward was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, westbound on SR-4, at an undetermined speed, and approaching Tzur’s location.
At 2:55 p.m., for reasons still under investigation, Tzur unsafely entered SR-4 directly in the path of the approaching Steele. The front of the Chevrolet collided with the left side of the Ford within the westbound lane of SR-4. The collision caused the Ford to spin out of control and leave the roadway on the south side, and the Chevrolet came to rest within the westbound lane.
Both Steele and his passenger were transported to Modesto Memorial Hospital for moderate to major injuries. Tzur sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have been a factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
