LETTER

I have recently learned that many residents of Amador County have signed the petition calling for a special election to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. To those individuals I say: “You want it, you pay for it!”

As one who does not support this effort, I resent that my tax dollars may be used to fund a special election resulting from your foot-stomping temper tantrum.

Recall elections are expensive and are seldom successful. There have been 55 recall attempts on a California Governor. Of those, only one succeeded.

If you are not happy with an elected official, the place to express that anger is at the ballot box.

Governor Newsom has approximately one year remaining in his term. To hold a special recall election this close to the end of his term is not only ridiculous, it’s just plain stupid!
