California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has released that three inmates at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) have tested positive for COVID-19 as July 29, 2020. 14 Percent of the prison population at MCSP has been tested. Statewide in the prison system 7,758 cases have tested positive, in custody 1,356 cases are active, 234 were released while active, and 6,121 cases are resolved with 47 cases resulting in death. In the last 14 days there have been 869 new cases testing positive for COVID-19 in the statewide system.
CDCR is also reporting that 8 cases have tested positive for employees at MCSP, with two recovered. Statewide there are 1,736 cases for CDCR employees, with 730 resolved.
As of today, Amador County Public Health COVID-19 statistic chart shows the three inmates are listed as Amador County confirmed COVID-19 cases. Employee numbers from CDCR may be working at MCSP but live out of county, therefore those testing positive would be reflected in the county they reside in.
