Farmer's Market

The Amador County Artists Association is having a free fall exhibition on September 14 and 15 in the Sutter Creek Auditorium. This event has been renamed Art in Amador and it’s going to be local artists showing, demonstrating and selling their work. There will be more than 20 artists and the arts include painting, photography, ceramics and jewelry. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The intent of the show is to see the wealth of talent Amador County has to offer. There is a raffle and the tickets are only $1 each. Food is available for purchase.

Read Across Amador meets every month on the third Tuesday. The meetings are open for everyone and they get together to discuss ways to increase literacy awareness and opportunities in Amador County. On September 17 at 12:30 p.m., they will be meeting at the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency office, 935 So. Highway 49 in Jackson. Consider attending; you might just come up with the best idea yet.

Don’t forget our farmer’s markets here in Amador County. The Pine Grove market is still taking place every Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Park, right on Highway 88 in the middle of town. They have fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables, baked goods and food available for purchase. There is also a market in Sutter Creek on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are located right at the end of the main street of town and there’s not only all the goodies from the vendors, but there’s also live music to accompany your strolling. It’s lovely! (I’ve been there). Park anywhere downtown and just walk down to the market.

If you’re a couch potato, you might enjoy some low-impact exercise at the Senior Center. They meet every Friday at the Senior Center at 10:15 a.m. The cost is $1. You know you can’t beat that!

That’s it for today. I will have many more interesting, inexpensive or free things for you to do in the future. I look forward to hearing from you if you know about something that you would like to share with fellow readers.
