On Thursday, July 23, 2020 at around 2:11 p.m. dispatch received a report of a vehicle crash near 22800 Latrobe Road. American Legion Ambulance, CalFire, Amador Fire Protection District and California Highway Patrol units responded to the scene, and a life flight helicopter launched as a precaution.
When American Legion personnel arrived on scene, they informed Dispatch that there were three confirmed deceased persons in the vehicle. A short time later, California Highway Patrol units advised they had located a fourth deceased subject in the vehicle.
Amador Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to conduct the death investigation. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the vehicle had been on fire, and all four occupants had been burned beyond recognition.
The identity of the subjects will remain unknown, pending DNA analysis for identification. Autopsies will be scheduled to determine cause of death for all four subjects. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
