Elsina Dean

Elsina passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was born on January 22, 1925 the sixth child of Enrico and Caroline D'Agostini. She is survived by Ben, her husband of 68+ years and 5 children, Bonnie, Kenny (Carroll), Linda (Joe), Jim and Marianne (Russ). She is also the proud grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother to 17. She is also survived by her younger sister Adelina Zampelli from Akron, OH.

Elsina founded the Foothill Garden Club in 1959. She is a member of the American Rose Society, Mother Lode Rose society and an award-winning flower arranger. She is a past chairperson for NCNH, past President of the Mother Lode Rose society and Consulting Rosarian Emeritus for NCNH and the American Rose Society. In addition to her Rose Society achievements, she has an award-winning rose garden of her own and has a rose especially hybridized for her β€œThe Elsina Dean Rose.”

Elsina dedicated her life to helping others as a Registered Nurse. Beginning with nursing school in Sacramento and after a long train ride to Chicago to continue that education, she received her RN license. She started her career at Amador County Hospital where she became head nurse. After retiring from the hospital, she was asked to open the Internal Medicine office for 3 doctors in Jackson. She was a lifelong devout Catholic faithfully serving St. Mary's of the Mountain Parish in Plymouth.
