Irvine Gidding

Irvine Gidding passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at his home in Sutter Creek at the age of 87 years. He was born December 18, 1932 to Winn I. and Ida L. (Applegate) Gidding in Maysville, KY.

Irv served in the Army band playing trumpet while deployed in Korea. He was a music teacher in the Amador County schools for 35 years, passing along his love of music. He was actively involved in music groups until the age of 85, including serving as choir director of the Sutter Creek United Methodist Church (now Creekside UMC) for 40 years, the Amador Choraliers, the Amador County Concert Band, and the Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra. He loved to play golf, fish, and camp. He was devoted to his family who will miss his gentle spirit and witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lita (Parks) Gidding; children, Russell (Nanci) Gidding, Douglas (Sandy) Gidding and Sandra Gidding, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Irvine is preceded in death by his parents, Winn and Ida, and siblings Edgar D. of Sacramento, William L. of Santa Cruz, and Doris L. of Merced.

Services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Sutter Creek City Cemetery in Sutter Creek, CA.
