Friday, September 27, 2019 Pastor John Leslie Bosch was laid in the back of a local ambulance, propped up, looking out the back, eyes locked with his wife Peggy, watching as she blew him a kiss for what would be the last time as the doors shut and life as the Bosch family knew it was left behind.
In May, John had been diagnosed with MDS, a blood cancer. Although treatment was going well and a bone marrow transplant was planned, complications from the cancer resulted in his death.
Born June 13, 1956 in Placerville, ‘Big John’ graduated from El Dorado High, and worked for PW Pipe in Cameron Park for 34 years. He was well-known for his musical talent and played drums professionally for nearly 50 year with groups like Country Edition, Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra, Stained Glass Band, Second Wind and Bobby D and the Blues Organization. He married Peggy Hugman in 1981 and they raised three children in Jackson, Ca. In 2006, he answered the call to ministry, serving the Jackson United Methodist Church, then the Lemoore and Armona UMCs. Since 2016, he has been the pastor at Community UMC in Valley Springs.
John had a deep faith and love for God. He was a man whose laugh was large and his ability to see and help others in their time of need was limitless.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; sons Gabriel and Michael (Kristina); daughter Kathryn; grandchildren Coleton, Brycen, and Weston; father Stanley (Joan) and brother Allan (Delcia). His mother Marjorie preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to the Community United Methodist Church, Valley Springs. A celebration of life will be held at 11am, Sat. Oct 5, at the church.
