April 15, 1965 - July 6, 2021
Mark Dommer, devoted son, brother, husband, father and friend, passed away at the age of 56. He was born in Placerville, CA to Ray and Laura Dommer. His family moved to Jackson in 1973. Growing up in Amador County he enjoyed Boy Scouts, Little League and playing trumpet in the Jackson marching band. He also enjoyed motocross, chess, fishing, traveling and collecting guns.
Mark graduated from Jackson High in 1983 and worked on a weatherization crew for ATTCA for 17 years. His supervisor described him as a skilled and diligent worker. He became disabled at age 35 and retired. He lost his mom, brother and father all within three years of becoming disabled. Through his friend Roger, he was “adopted” by the Chandler/Stirnaman family. A few years later through Facebook, he discovered his closest living relative, his cousin Russel, lived nearby. They immediately became good friends. At the age of 50, Mark found true love and married his “angel,” who helped him weather his many medical challenges.
Mark enjoyed working with his hands and creating things with wood. He volunteered locally and was a proud supporter of the 700 Club and St. Judes Children’s Hospital. He loved history and was an avid American patriot. He was a fan of the SF Giants and the Atlanta Braves. He wasn’t a fan of religion, but he loved Jesus. He was generous and humble, honest and fiercely loyal. He had a wide circle of friends and was loved by everyone that knew him.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ray; his mother, Laura; and his brother, Mike. He is survived by his wife Paulette; his step-children Matthew, Maxwell, Mark, Josh and Kayla; his cousins Russel and Maureen; and his adoptive family Roger, Mark, Gary, Sarah and David; and many life-long friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 12924 Ridge Road in Sutter Creek.
