Patricia Salmen, 78, passed away November 2, 2019 in Sutter Creek, CA with family by her side. She was born September 10, 1941 in Emmet, ID to Marvin and Wanda (Ashburn) Butts. Wanda divorced, moved her family to Sutter Creek, and married Stanley Williams. Patricia attended school here through her junior year, moved to Sacramento, and graduated high school in 1959.
Patricia wed Norman Van Booven in 1963, traveled to foreign countries for 16 years, and worked in Vietnam, Greece and Saudi Arabia. When she divorced, she moved to Nevada and met and married Dale Salmen.
She was active with American Legion Auxiliary Unit #18, and held offices of Unit, District, Department President and many chairmanships, and became the Western Division National Vice President. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary #1103. She loved helping veterans and their families and another of her passions was genealogy.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larin Butts; husband, Dale Salmen; and granddaughter, Leia Campbell. She is survived by her daughter, Kandiee Campbell; grandsons, Cameron and Christopher Ruch; sisters, Bonnie Williams of Sutter Creek, Darleen Baldwin, Arleen Baldwin, Helen Brown, Betty Butts, and Linda Butts; and half-brother Roger Butts, all of Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA 95642.
