Robert Floyd (Bob) Sexton of Jackson, California, passed away on February 18, 2020 at the age of 81.
Bob was born in Turlock, California on October 7, 1938, a son of the late Thelma Corrine (Fondy) and Floyd Ednas Sexton.Bob grew up in Turlock, graduating from Turlock High School in 1957 and attending Modesto Jr. College before joining the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He met and married his wife Letitia Smith and began their family in Turlock, later moving to Twain Harte, and eventually moving to Jackson and establishing their home in Amador County in 1977.
Bob epitomized the American Dream of hard work and determination. A grocer for 60 years, he began his career as a cleanup boy at Purity Grocery stores, working his way up to meat cutter and then meat department manager for Safeway and Save Mart stores. Bob and his family then moved to Amador County, owning and operating several grocery stores, including One Stop Market on Sutter Hill and Plaza Foods in Rancho Murieta.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Letitia, daughters Michelle (Harley) Hubbell, of Jackson, Andrea (Paul Danczyk) Sexton, of Sutter Creek, son Darin (Casey) Sexton, of Sutter Creek, his sister Corinne, and 4 amazing grandchildren, Chelsea, Alexander, Max, and August. Bob was preceded in death by his brother Dean.
As George Sand wrote, “There is only one happiness in this life – to love and to be loved.” Bob truly loved his family, and was so loved by them in return. He will be deeply missed.
