On the fast track to winter!

It’s still only fall, but it started to feel more like winter this week in Amador County. Just days after temperatures were hovering in the 80-degree range, temperatures dropped rapidly this past week and snow fell in many spots around the county. Above, Ham’s Station in Pioneer recieved a heavy coat of snow on Sunday, November 8, and more snow is projected this weekend by the National Weather Service at elevations as low as 4,000 feet, including up to 8 inches of snow in mountain passes. Monitor Pass (Highway 89), Ebbetts Pass (Highway 4) and Sonora Pass (Highway 108) will all be closed through this weekend. Anyone with travel plans this weekend is advised to check road conditions at quickmap.dot.ca.gov or by calling (800) 427-7623 before departing.
