Boy Scouts Troop 2020, chartered by Grace Fellowship Church in Jackson, weren’t about to let the COVID-19 Pandemic get in the way of honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Over the Memorial Day weekend the Boy Scouts made their way to Amador Memorial Cemetery, 25999 Highway 88 in Pioneer, and went to work, practicing safe-distancing and COVID-19 safety protocols, to make sure the gravesites received the flags commemorating Memorial Day 2020.

On Monday, the short presentation and the playing of taps, by Wayne Coffey a Vietnam Veteran Army Specialist E-4 was made even more special as Amador Memorial Cemetery was decorated beautifully including flags placed in the shape of a giant heart — almost as big as the hearts of Boy Scout Troop 2020 that took the time to honor, remember, and do their part to make this year’s Memorial Day the most it could be.

The program,  dedicated to the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America in peace time and during war and acknowledging with grateful hearts their sacrifice in service, was a moving and heartfelt program, made even more memorable by the work of Boy Scout Troop 2020 making them one of our latest groups of hometown heroes.
