The beloved Old Sutter Creek Flea Market, held at the Italian Picnic Grounds on the 3rd Sunday of every month, is again open after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19 public safety closures.
The Old Sutter Creek Flea Market is hosted by Mary Panzarino and Peter Torres, owners of the quality curated antique and vintage collectible shop Tigby Hill Vintage, a fixture on Main Street Sutter Creek since 2016. The monthly event draws in visitors and business from locals, the Sacramento Area and beyond, in search of the rare, unique goods offered by vendors who travel far and wide to visit the Market.
“We’re back, bigger and better than ever,” Panzarino excitedly commented. “The Health Department has given us the go-ahead for March ongoing with social distancing and required masks…we’re back, folks!”
At the March Market, Mary explained that they hosted dozens of vendors who travel from as far as Los Angeles, Oregon and Nevada who all travelled to Amador County to showcase their vintage and antique collectibles, rare items and interesting wares which are dated from the 1970’s and older. “It’s been over a year since our last flea market,” she continued, “and we have missed our vendors and all of the fun that the Flea Market brings. Everybody complied with wearing their masks and social distancing; I think they were just so happy to be there, because it’s been a really rough year for everybody and to be able to come out on such a beautiful day and enjoy the outdoors, all the antiques and vintage items that people brought from all over. It is just so much fun.”
“It felt like a family reunion being able to open back up again; we had the highest attendance ever, and plenty of familiar and new vendors, more than ever! And our food truck vendor, Bigfoot Frybread will be here from now on- they have the best, most delicious authentic Native American frybread and Indian tacos. It’s the perfect food to enjoy while you visit the market!”
“Only vintage and antique merchandise is sold at the Old Sutter Creek Flea Market, and this truly is like the old country flea markets we all remember…you won’t find any new items here,” Mary finished. “We pride the Market on vintage integrity - offering true antique and vintage collectible items ranging from old business signs to antique furniture, advertising material, collectible apothecary items, glassware and dishes, home decor, knick-knacks, old books, and so much more. Each month there are amazing treasures for sale, and you will not be disappointed! We will be continuing on every third Sunday of the month now, so stop by for your antique and vintage goods from the 1970’s and older.”
