Some of my earliest summer memories include a charcoal grill and the smell of lighter fluid. I loved the smell of lighter fluid. My Grandma’s birthday is the 4th of July and we would always have a huge family BBQ. We would take turns making steaks, chicken, or brisket to go with our homemade potato salad and deviled eggs. 1/4 cup salt

1/4 cup dark brown sugar

3 tablespoons smoked paprika

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons ground pepper

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon ginger


1. Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container. 

2. Use liberally on tri tip, brisket, pork loin, pork chops, chicken, or even vegetables. 

Extra Tips

1. Make sure any measuring cups or spoons are completely dry to avoid any moisture sticking in the rub to keep it fresh. 

2. Store in a dark and dry area.
