Umpqua Bank, located on Ridge Road, Sutter Creek, made a generous donation of $4,000 to Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency (ATCAA) for Children Homeless Support. The donation will be used for the Homeless Student fund for the Tuolumne Shelter. It will buy chromebooks for children at the shelter to be able to check out to use them for school-related projects while they are at the shelter, as well as provide school supplies on an as-needed basis. There continues to be an alarming increase in the number of children (ages 0-17) entering our emergency homeless shelters in Amador and Tuolumne Counties. In 2017, there were 59 children who stayed at the Tuolumne and Amador Shelters. In FY 2018, 80 children needed Emergency shelter services. In the first quarter of 2019, we have assisted 24 children and anticipate more than 100 total in 2019.
