Amador Pregnancy & Family Resource Center asks you to join in as it competes against other area pregnancy centers from the San Joaquin Valley in the annual Diaper Dash. This event held the week of January 17th - 21st is a friendly competition to see who can raise the most diapers for their center. The pregnancy center has been in the community over 30 years offering compassionate support to women and their families. They serve women facing an unplanned pregnancy with pregnancy tests, options counseling and support. They also help families who are struggling by providing material needs such as diapers, gently used clothing and baby equipment.
Did you know APFRC clients participate in an "Earn While You Learn" mentoring program, enhancing their knowledge of parenting skills and baby and toddler milestones? Through that program, clients earn Baby Bucks that they can spend in the APFRC boutique on diapers and other necessities for their babies.
APFRC's goal during the Diaper Dash is to collect enough diapers to supply its clients for the entire year! In the last 5 years they have served 316 unique clients and we distributed 3890 dozen diapers (that’s over 46,500!) along with thousands of packages of wipes and hundreds of bags of baby clothes.
There is always in a particular need for larger sizes of 4, 5 and 6, as well as baby wipes. Since the center has a small square footage, it is highly encouraged to give monetary donations or gift cards rather than large boxes, which they will have to store. All money collected during the dash will be specifically earmarked for the learning program and diapers, and $1 equals four diapers in the Diaper Dash count.
Will you help support APFC by dropping off diapers or a donation this week? The center is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and will have special hours on Friday the 21st from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the final count for the contest. There will be refreshments and tours available on Friday the 21st. APFRC is located in Jackson at 1001 Broadway - on the corner of Clinton and Broadway, across the street from the CHP office. You can reach them at 209-223-3813.
