CHAIN INSTALLER ORIENTATION AND PERMITS

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 10 is seeking chain installers during the winter snow season in the Sierra Nevada.

Individuals who are interested can call (209) 736-0187 for more information. Permits are available for State Routes 4, 88, 89, 108, 120 and 207 in Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties.

New applicants are required to attend a Chain Installer Orientation Class that will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Mountain Region Office located at 98 South Main Street in Angels Camp.

The class will consist of a written and performance exam. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.

Returning District 10 Chain Installers, with no prior violations, can renew their permits immediately by calling (209) 736-0187.

The cost of the permit and identification bib is $256.00 through December 31, 2021. Calaveras County requires a business license for all applicants interested in working on Route 4.
