Alfred Norman Hopkins passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, in Pioneer, CA at the age of 93 years old. He was born June 20, 1928, in Council Bluffs, IA to his parents, Robert and Nellie (Wright) Hopkins.
Norman was very proud to have served in the US Marine Corps for a short time during WWII and for almost a year as an infantryman during the Korean Conflict.
He was a life member of the 1st Marine Division Association as well as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster for over 30 years. Alfred enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. He was a Chemical Engineer and a member of the American Chemical Society. And was head of the Chemistry Department at the College of Western Samoa. Alfred had an Amateur Radio license for many years.
Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years. 3 sons, 2 daughters in law, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Norman will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
