Gary G. Crider, born to Theron Jones and Betty Higgins on July 17, 1963, in Jackson California. He died peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2021.
He retired from CAL FIRE in 2013 with 29 years of service as a very honorable fireman. Gary was a loving man who would do anything for friends and family. Gary was a hero, a CAL FIRE fireman, a member of the Wilton Rancheria Native American Tribe, a loving companion, a son, a brother, a father/grandfather and an uncle. Gary loved sports, mainly the NFL and was a diehard Raiders fan. He supported the Oakland A’s for MLB and the Sacramento Kings for NBA. He loved all kinds of music and attended many different concerts.
Gary is survived by his mother Betty Higgins; a long-term companion, Mark of Placerville; daughter, Brandi Jones; daughter in-law, Chelsea Jones; and three grandkids, Gwendolynn, Emmett, Greyson of Wyoming; three sisters, Mary of Winnemucca, Patti of Stockton, Kelly and brother in-law, Mike Stahley of Jackson; brother Rickie Higgins from Lodi; numerous nieces and nephews; ex-wife Sonja Jones; and his dog Whiskey. Gary will be missed by everyone that was in his life. He had many friends and crew members that loved him and looked up to him. Gary will be missed by all that knew him. He is proceeded in death by brothers, Walter Higgins, Eugene Crider, Clarence Crider, Robert Biskup; and his grandparents, George and Clara Darrow.
