James "Jim" Frank Nohel

James “Jim” Frank Nohel passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 in Roseville, California. He was born April 28, 1948 to James O’Brien McNew and Mary Elizabeth Sulentich in Irvine, California. When Jim and his brother John were very young, their mother Mary was remarried to Lowell “Bud” Edward Nohel, who ultimately raised and adopted him. James was a Firefighter for 31 years, 27 of which he proudly devoted to the city of Palo Alto.

He has now rejoined his first wife Janis Nohel of 29 years with the Lord in heaven. He was a proud father to James (Larissa), Michael and Matthew (Jenna). He was a loving Poppy/Papa to Arabella, Charlotte, Emmelyn, Annalise, Everett and Zachary. In 2009, he was blessed to have met Cynthia Nohel and was married to her for 13 years until his passing. With Cynthia, he welcomed Kim, Christy, Sara and Elijah into his family and gained nine grandchildren: Kacie, Hayley, Andrea, Lukie, Hannah, Kamrie, Elijah, Jayda, Kamiah, as well as six great-grandchildren.

He was generous and a devoted man of God. He enjoyed reading his Bible daily, leading fellowship and helping others in life. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We will celebrate his life on July 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Solid Rock Faith Center in Diamond Springs, CA.
