June Gervin Chegwin

50-plus-year resident of Amador County June Gervin Chegwin passed away on April 5, 2023 in Jackson, CA. Born April 12, 1921 in San Jose, CA to William and Edna Haack, she is survived by sons Leon Gervin (Lorrie), Les (Letty), Don (Kathy); daughter Shannon (Jim) Gragg; stepchildren Dennis Chegwin and Suzan DePiano; as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Paul Chegwin; brother Robert; and sister Muriel.

June graduated from Los Gatos High School Class of 1940 and raised her children in Los Gatos. June and Paul built a home in Pioneer and moved there in the early 1970s with their daughter Shannon. June was a florist for many years, working at the Sweet Shop in Pine Grove, and after retiring, volunteering her services to make flower arrangements, holiday decorations, wreaths and gift baskets for local organizations including the Newcomers Society, the Sierra Madre Garden Club and Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson. She and Paul traveled widely through the United States during their retirement years, towing their fifth-wheel camper, enjoying many beautiful sights.

June’s family wishes to thank all of the staff at Oak Manor in Jackson and Hospice of Amador and Calaveras County for the wonderful, loving care she received, so deeply appreciated by June and her family and friends.

Services to be held at Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek, on Saturday, May 27 at 1:30 p.m. For those wishing to honor June’s memory, donations may be made to the Michael J.
