Richard Francis Gianandrea

Richard Francis Gianandrea passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the age of 84. Born February 23, 1939 to Dulinda and Manuel Gianandrea in Santa Barbara CA. He grew up in Milpitas, CA, where as a young adult, enjoyed fishing, hunting and driving his new 1958 Chevy Impala. He married Gwendolyn Dutra on October 16, 1960 and started their family while living in Milpitas, CA. Three of their four children were born in Milpitas: Laurie, Manuel and Sandra. In 1969, the family relocated to Plymouth, CA where they began a new chapter of their lives. They were blessed with a fourth child, Matthew. Richard worked with his brother, Gilbert, at the family’s expanded ranch in Plymouth until their father passed away. He then accepted a career with Joe Vicini, where he eventually took over managing Joe’s ranch properties in Plymouth, Fiddletown and Lotus. Joe’s ranch in Plymouth was across the fence from the Gianandrea ranch and Richard was able to work on both operations at the same time for many years. After 30-plus years with Joe Vicini, Richard retired and moved to Volcano, CA. He maintained a small herd of cattle which helped to pay the taxes on the new place and provide him with something to do besides drive to the Old Well diner in Drytown for a piece of pie and cup of coffee (which he thoroughly enjoyed).

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn; his parents Dulinda and Manuel; his brother Gilbert; and his sister and brother-in-law Diane and Leo Holthouse. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Laurie and Mason Bonnet, Manuel and Kim Gianandrea, Sandra Gianandrea, Matthew and Kristy Gianandrea; his grandchildren and spouses Taylor and Kirsten Bonnet, Justin Robello, Christopher and Madeline Gianandrea, Carissa Gianandrea and Keaton Bachman; his great-grandchildren Spencer Bonnet, Ava Robello, Karter Ann Bachman and Colin Gianandrea; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson, CA on Friday March 31, 2023 at 11 a.m., followed by a Graveside Service at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA. In lieu of presents, you may contribute to the Amador County Fair Foundation, P.O. Box 1072, Plymouth, CA 95669.
