The 147th Annual Ione Homecoming is just around the corner with most of the festivities taking place on Friday and Saturday, May 12th and 13th. However, in keeping with tradiiton, Ione Homecoming really starts with the Miss Ione Scholarship Pageant taking place at Evalynn Bishop Hall, 701 Highway 124 in Ione on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m.
Three contestants will compete for the title of Miss Ione — Gillian Rocke, Macie Reynolds and Maddie Byrd.
Competing this year in the Miss Teen Ione category is Jasmine Fowler, Morgan Nygren, Deaven Garcia, Alexia Spaugh, Lilly Houden, and Emma Weaver.
Competing in the Mrs. and Ms. Ione category will be Valerie Oulette and Athena Orlando.
On Wednesday, May 3 the Little Miss Ione Pageant was held, crowning this year’s Wee Miss Ione, Little Miss Ione, and Jr. Miss Ione. Those results were unavailable as of press time.
Folks are invited to attend the dress rehearsal for the Miss Ione Scholarship Pageant at Evalynn Bishop Hall on Friday, May 5 taking place at 6 p.m. Admission will be taken at the door: $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under, children 3 and under free.
Or, attend the official Miss Ione Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, May 6, taking place at 7 p.m. at Evalynn Bishop Hall Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under, $1 for children 3 and under.
Sponsored by Aphrodite Restored and the Ione Picnic Association, and emceed by Rich Hoffman, this year’s Miss Ione Scholarship Pageant promises to be better that ever.

This year looks to be bigger and better than ever. Get to Howard Park in Ione to see the pageant, and come back for Ione Homecoming next weekend.
