The 2023 Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee was held May 18 to May 21 at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp with more than 36,000 people attending over the four days.
Attendance was up slightly from the 2022 fair and so was the amount of money brought in at the annual Junior Livestock Auction, which raised more than $1.5 million, an all-time high.

Other highlights from this year’s Calaveras County Fair included 18-year-old Lily Maygren of Copperopolis, a senior at Bret Harte High School, winning the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant; Sienna Grant from Wallace winning the Calaveras Rodeo Queen competition; Mike Doyle of Dixon was the Main Event winner at the Destruction Derby; and Brad Guzules of the Santa Clara-based World Champion Frog Jump Team winning the International Frog Jump Grand Finals on Sunday, May 21 with his frog “Claire de Pond,” which jumped 18 feet, 4 inches – shy of the long-standing world record of 21-5¾ set by the late Lee Giudici with frog Rosie the Ribeter in 1986.
